The 1894 Mayo college football series contains 35 cards of top Ivy League players. The cards feature sepia photos of the player surrounded by a black border in which the player’s name, his college and a Mayo Cut Plug ad appears. The cards measure approximately 1 5/8” X 2 7/8”. Each card is unnumbered. The Poe (likely Neilson Poe) in the set is a direct descendant of the famous writer Edgar Allan Poe. The originals would sell for over $35,000.00!!
