1944 St. Louis Browns American League Champions

Product Overview

Patterned after the classic Topps sets of the early 1950s, this full-color 36-card set commemorates the only pennant winner in the history of the St. Louis Browns Baseball Club. The 1944 Browns rose above the World War II mediocrity to capture the 1944 American League pennant. While they went on to lose to the rival Cardinals in what became known as the “Streetcar Series,” this Browns club became legendary in St. Louis. Every player to take the field for the 1944 Browns is pictured in this set in richly illustrated  portraits reminiscent of the 1953 Topps set. A biography, statistics, and a cartoon make up the back of each player’s card. Each card also contains an installment of a 1944 timeline that takes you through the important dates in  the season.
